Android Marshmallow Updates: Take 2
Think you know all there is to know about Android Marshmallow? It’s time to think again with these additional features
What you don’t know about Android Marshmallow could be holding you back! This Android update has kicked things up a notch with timely upgrades every Android user can appreciate. We’ve already mentioned a few of our favorites, but there’s definitely a lot more to say.
Uninstall Apps with Ease
With Android Marshmallow, you can uninstall unnecessary apps from your home screen or the app drawer in seconds. Hold down the app icon on your home screen until the “Remove” or “Uninstall” option pops up. If you are in the app drawer, hold the icon down until the “App Info” or “Uninstall” option appears. Drag and drop the icon into the appropriate space.
Custom Quick Settings with System UI Tuner
From any screen, you can access your Quick Settings menu simply by swiping down from the top of your phone with two fingers. Tap and hold the “Settings” icon (the gray cog wheel) for a few seconds. It will alert you that the System UI Tuner has been added to your settings list. You will find it at the very bottom of the screen. Switch around tiles by tapping and dragging them, or add tiles by pressing the + sign.
If you happen to leave your phone lying on your desk, or sitting on the break room table, you don’t want just anyone to see your notification updates. Although this function was introduced by Android Lollipop, Android Marshmallow finally provides the option to turn this feature off. Tap “Settings,” click “Sound & Notifications,” and then “App Notifications.” Here, you can make those pop-ups disappear.
With the new Marshmallow update, users are given the option to automatically make a connection between specific apps with certain types of links. For example, if you have a Facebook.com link, you can decide if you want to open the link in Facebook, or via a different method. If you’re interested in utilizing this feature, select “Settings,” click “Apps,” and then, from the menu on the upper right, click “Advanced,” and finally “App Links.” From there, you can choose what you want, and be good to go.
