dfndr security Protects Androids 100%, Google Play Protect Does Not

When it comes to safeguarding your personal information, Google’s offering may be best avoided according to the latest AV-TEST scores.

The newest AV-TEST results were just published and dfndr security scored 100% across the board for detection of malware attacks in real-time and blocking attacks over a 4-week period. Our app also scored perfectly for usability with devices, which means having it installed won’t affect battery life or slow down your phone.

Google Play Protect scored poorly for the third time in a row — with only a 62% success rate in fighting malware in real-time and only 71% ability to stop attacks over a 4-week period.

AV-TEST spreads their point system across 13 possible points, 6 is for protection, 6 is for usability and any remaining points are earned for extra features. 20 antivirus apps went through their rigorous testing variables, garnering 12 perfect scores (including dfndr security), but Google Play Protect was among the poorest rated, earning zero points for protection.

Google Play Protect is not traditional antivirus protection, designed for scanning applications in the Google Play Store before you download them and periodically monitoring them once you do, yet there have been several cases of malicious malware slipping through the Play Store and infecting Android phones.

Google produces valuable products from free web-based email to photo cloud services, yet unfortunately, with their basic antivirus protection, you’re still best off relying on a third-party security app that devotes their full resources and expertise to keep your personal information safe from hacker threats.

“At PSafe, we strive to strike the right balance between usability and performance, and the AV-TEST results prove we’ve done just that,” said Marco DeMello, founder, and CEO of PSafe. “Our innovative work with artificial intelligence and proprietary technology is a clear indicator a third-party app like dfndr security continues to stay a step ahead of the competition.”

In continuous efforts to evolve our promise of a secure online experience, dfndr security now includes a VPN premium offering, giving you end-to-end encryption so all your digital connections remain private and protected. This exciting addition is also reflected in the AV-TEST scores.
