The League Dating App is Now Available on Android

The League is not a dating app for casual daters or hook-ups: it is a dating app for match-making. At least, that’s what it was designed for. The goal of the app is to match users with someone who matches their level of education or ambition. However, you can also be pickier — there’s a reason this app is known as “elitist.” You can also choose people based on their neighborhood, height, or appearance.

It’s a picky app for picky people.

Further, the app has a long vetting process — you have to apply to join The League. It takes some time to get approved for this dating app, and there’s always the chance that you might not be approved. The League only approves 10-20% of applicants. The app has this process because it’s designed for people who are tired of the average dating and hook-up scene — they want something more, something more serious; someone who matches their level of ambition. This long vetting process also means that you shouldn’t come across any fake profiles. Every person that you see on this app is the real deal.

Here’s how the app works.

The League requires access to your Facebook and LinkedIn profiles in order to work. This is a part of their vetting process (to make sure you are who you say you are), but these profiles are also used to block your Facebook friends and LinkedIn connections from your dating profile. The League uses your Facebook interests and pictures to design your dating profile, as well. This app is about privacy, so they won’t advertise that you’re a part of The League, either.

Unlike other dating apps, only those who match your dating preferences will be able to view your profile. This way, you don’t have to worry about unwanted attention or wasting your time on those who don’t match your preferences. Also, any matches that you make will expire within 21 days. Therefore, if you’re interested in someone, make sure to let them know.

This app isn’t a free dating app, either. You have to pay a hefty price for a subscription, and there are other potential in-app purchases, too.

Does the app work anywhere in the US?

The app is currently available in a select number of cities: New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, DC, and San Francisco. However, The League is planning on expanding internationally in the spring.
