How to Prevent Your Instagram Account from Getting Hacked

Instagram is an excellent way to capture your cherished times with your best friends. However, like every other social media outlet, Instagram is prone to hackers. Listed below are a few preventative steps you can take to help protect your account.

Create a complex password. Use at least one capital letter, a number, and a symbol. This will make your password nearly impenetrable to hackers. This is because hackers oftentimes use algorithms that can pry into your password. These algorithms run basic English words by your password at an extremely fast rate, and if there is a match, it informs the hacker, making your account vulnerable. On the other hand, utilizing numbers, symbols, and capital letters confuses this algorithm, and it makes your password much stronger.

Make your password unique. Birthdays, pets, and names as passwords make a hacker’s job easy. A cleverly constructed password will always keep a hacker guessing.

Use separate passwords for all of your social media accounts. If you only use one universal password for all accounts, then all of your accounts will be compromised if one gets hacked. A long, unique password for each account is an excellent safety measure to take to prevent hacking.

Don’t give your password away. Ever. No exceptions. Especially over email. If you get an email from Instagram or another social media account asking for your password, it is likely a phisher posing as the networks to try to hack your password. Don’t fall for this trap — social media networks will never ask for your password via email.

Use PSafe Total’s Vault feature. This component of PSafe Total for Android lets you lock specific apps on your phone. This adds a second layer of protection to important apps, even if you already have a lock screen on your phone. Use Vault to put a second password on your Instagram. This way, if your phone gets lost or stolen, hackers will find that there are multiple barriers protecting your Instagram account.

Use PSafe Total’s Antivirus protection. This feature also has you covered. With PSafe Total’s antivirus protection, you can quickly scan all phone files and your SD card to fix any security breaches. Hackers trying to use malware to gain access to your phone (and, possibly, your Instagram) will be deterred immediately. This feature automatically keeps you protected from all online threats 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
