Has your phone been exposed to water, and is at risk of possibly becoming water damaged? First thing, don’t panic. This type of thing happens all the time, and there are many low-cost resources available online to help you avoid having to go to a professional. Here are some of the steps you should take to save your device:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Remove your phone from water as soon as possible.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The first and best thing you can do is to quickly remove it from the water it is in. If possible, retrieve your Android device as quickly as possible. The longer it is exposed, the more risk it faces. A quick retrieval will help to prevent further damage.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Turn it off and disassemble if possible.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      If the phone is on, try to turn it off to prevent damage. By turning it off, you can reduce the risk as much as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

        The most famous cure for water-logged devices is also the best one. Storing your Android device in a Ziploc bag filled with rice with help to expedite the drying process and get your device back to normal. If you have the time in advance, consider buying silica gel packs (or save them from your recent shoe purchase) as an even more effective means of drying out your device.<\/span><\/p>\n

        1. Try your best to turn it on, and test all the components.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          After a few hours, your phone should be on its way to drying out. When you feel sufficient time has passed, and it’s safe to attempt to plug in or turn on the device, try to turn it on. Should the phone work successfully, you should try to test out the various features like the microphone, camera, and processing speed to ensure that the device has not suffered any damage to any of the features. Should you notice a problem, turn it off and continue to let it dry, as this could possibly correct the problem.<\/span><\/p>\n
