Every Android comes installed with a number of apps loaded by the manufacturer. Luckily, you can uninstall or disable these apps \u2013 called \u201cbloatware\u201d \u2013 using a few simple techniques. Remember, though, you can\u2019t reinstall most of these apps even if you need them again, so be careful you\u2019re not getting rid of apps that are important to your phone\u2019s functioning.<\/p>\n

Disabling an App on a Newer Android Phone\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

A disabled app lets you make sure an app doesn\u2019t run without giving you the problems uninstalling a necessary app might. Here\u2019s how to do it:<\/p>\n

  1. Open your settings.<\/li>\n
  2. Click onto \u201cApps\u201d or \u201cApp Manager,\u201d whichever is installed on your phone.<\/li>\n
  3. Find the app you want to disable. You might have to swipe over to \u201cAll\u201d in the scrolling bar in your app manager.<\/li>\n
  4. Choose the app you want to disable and click on it.<\/li>\n
  5. In the app\u2019s screen, click a button that says \u201cDisable.\u201d<\/li>\n
  6. When you\u2019re prompted with a button that talks about problems with disabling, click \u201cOK.\u201d<\/li>\n
  7. If you do run into problems, you can always run through steps 1 through 4 again, and click \u201cEnable\u201d this time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Disabling an app on an older Android\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

    If you find an app without a disable option or if you have an older Android, disabling apps isn\u2019t quite as easy. You\u2019ll need to download a third-party app, like Titanium Backup to do it. This app cost a little money, so you need to be committed to removing the apps you don\u2019t want. Here\u2019s how to use Titanium Backup:<\/p>\n

    1. Click on the \u201cBackup\/Restore\u201d tab for a list of all the apps on your system.<\/li>\n
    2. Find the app you want to freeze.<\/li>\n
    3. Choose the app you want to freeze and a popup will appear with different actions.<\/li>\n
    4. Click \u201cFreeze.\u201d<\/li>\n
