The transparent TV seems like something from a sci-fi movie or a futuristic novel, but Panasonic is unveiling a brand-new concept for a modern television that also acts as a standard window. They have dubbed it \u201cinvisible TV\u201d with the promise of a clear, unparallelled experience that rivals existing HDTV screens. Based on pictures and theories surrounding the glass so far, it looks like it will have a real impact on the way we use screens and TVs in general.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Transparent TV is Revealed<\/b><\/p>\n

The product was first revealed in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) where it was met with some criticism. Reviews noted that a shadow was left behind on the glass after the TV was turned off, much like a television set that leaves a fading light after it has been turned off, and the manufacturers have worked on this issue since. Replacing the LED screen with an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen gives the illusion of a real pane of glass, as the creators intended. As more modifications are being made, the quality of the HD screen will likely improve as well \u2014 this was the other chief complaint of those that reviewed the product. <\/span><\/p>\n

There Will Be Many Uses for a Transparent TV<\/b><\/p>\n

This new tech revolution will have many avenues for contribution, including several \u201csmart city\u201d projects and their various components. This TV is beyond a simple TV window: this new form of glass will be able to be used on top of work surfaces, storage shelves, and more. It will potentially use features that register heat, and when it covers cabinets and shelves with food and perishables, a touch will read the temperature out and adjust it if needed. <\/span><\/p>\n

When Will the TV Be Available?<\/b><\/p>\n

The possibilities with OLED screens have shown great promise for the company, but you might have to wait a while before you can enjoy it. The release date for Samsung\u2019s patented transparent TV has yet to be determined. There is also an estimated three years\u2019 wait time for products to hit the market \u2014 so don\u2019t expect this TV to be in your hands any time soon. The price for this sleek gadget has also not been determined yet. However, there is still hope among many that the transparent TV will be affordable to install in any household or work environment.
