The Sundance Film Festival took place from January 19th to January 29th this year in Park City, Utah. The film festival is the biggest independent film festival in the US, with hundreds of thousands of people attending. The festival has been around since the 1970s, and has grown from a small festival into a festival populated with high-profile Hollywood actors and the like.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are dozens of awards that are given out every year at the Sundance festival. Some of these awards include: the Grand Jury Prize, the Audience Award, the Directing Award, and the World Cinema Award, among various other awards and subcategories. Both national and international films are able to be submitted to the festival.<\/p>\n

Since the festival already took place, it will be easier to watch many of the 2017 nominated and award-winning films through an online streaming service. This is especially true due to the budget of many independent films \u2014 distributing a film online would be more cost-effective than distributing a DVD copy. Still, many of the Sundance winners will appear in theaters this year before being released on streaming sites. Without further ado, here are some of the best films from the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, and where and when you can watch them online.<\/p>\n

February 2017<\/b><\/p>\n

On March 10th, Netflix will be getting <\/span>Burning Sands<\/span><\/i>, which is a drama that they distributed and produced. On the 24th of this month, the film, <\/span>I Don\u2019t Feel at Home in This World Anymore<\/span><\/i>, will also be available to stream on Netflix. It\u2019s a netflix original movie that stars Melanie Lynsky and Elijah Wood. <\/span><\/p>\n

March 2017<\/b><\/p>\n

The film, <\/span>Deidra & Laney Rob a Train<\/span><\/i>, debuts on Netflix on March 17th. On March 31st, <\/span>The Discovery<\/span><\/i> will premiere, which is a sci-fi romantic film created by Netflix.<\/span><\/p>\n

May 2017<\/b><\/p>\n

The documentary about the Grateful Dead, called <\/span>Long Strange Trip<\/span><\/i>, will be available on Amazon on May 26th.<\/span><\/p>\n

Release Dates To Be Determined<\/b><\/p>\n

Landline<\/span><\/i>, which is a family drama-comedy starring Jenny Slate, will be available on Amazon Prime sometime this year, perhaps after a theatrical release. <\/span>The Big Stick<\/span><\/i> (a comedy) and <\/span>City of Ghosts<\/span><\/i> (a documentary about the rise of ISIS) will likely be released in theaters before being released on Amazon Prime later this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Other films coming to Netflix this year include: <\/span>Casting JonBenet<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Chasing Coral<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>The Mars Generation<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Berlin Syndrome<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>To the Bone<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Icarus<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>The Incredible Jessica James<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>Fun Mom Diner<\/span><\/i>, among others.
