According to the article, the penguins took flight upon sensing rough changes in weather conditions, and migrated thousands of miles to the Amazonian rainforest for the winter. The problem? Penguins can\u2019t fly. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Spaghetti Plant <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, it seems the BBC has been at it for at least half a century! On April 1, 1957, they released a fake broadcast showing farmers <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/onthisday\/hi\/dates\/stories\/april\/1\/newsid_2819000\/2819261.stm\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">harvesting spaghetti<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Switzerland. Spaghetti was not a popular delicacy in the UK at the time, so many viewers were excited about the \u201cspaghetti bush\u201d and were eager to begin growing their own. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Washing of the Lions<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ever wonder about the April Fools\u2019 pranks of 17th century Britain? Well, wonder no more. On April 1, 1698, citizens of London were invited to witness the annual \u201c<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/hoaxes.org\/Hoaxipedia\/Washing_The_Lions\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">washing of the lions\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the moat outside of the Tower of London. Of course, there was no washing of any lions, but large crowds flocked to take part in the event, and the prank was even repeated year after year for two centuries. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>John Stamos Documentary <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s a more recent trick, and one with multiple layers. Last year on April Fools\u2019 Day, Netflix <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/people.com\/tv\/john-stamos-alleged-meltdown-at-netflix-office-leaks-online\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">released a fake trailer<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for a documentary all about the life of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Full House <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">actor John Stamos. A video in which Stamos angrily ranted at Netflix after finding out that they\u2019d used him for an April Fools\u2019 prank was then \u201cleaked.\u201d As it turned out, Stamos was in on the prank from the beginning. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>The Taco Liberty Bell<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Would you visit the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/hoaxes.org\/archive\/permalink\/taco_liberty_bell\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taco Liberty Bell<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">? On April 1, 1996, Taco Bell released a number of statements in major newspapers telling readers that they had purchased the Liberty Bell in order to reduce America\u2019s national debt. They asserted that they would be renaming the structure the \u201cTaco Liberty Bell.\u201d There were so many strong reactions that Taco Bell released another statement around midday letting audiences know that the whole story was a joke. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, there are some of our favorite April Fools\u2019 pranks of all time.
