The Best Smart Gadgets to Look Forward to This Year

If you thought that 2016 was an exciting year for smart gadgets, just wait until you see what’s in store for 2017. The best part: it’s only going to improve from here. The following are some of the best smart gadgets that will be released this year.

Dojo

It’s been proven that smart objects are incredibly easy to hack — most of them do not have adequate security measures in place or receive frequent software updates. That’s where Dojo comes in: it’s a smart device that monitors your other smart devices for malware and security breaches. It’s available now to preorder.

New Android Wear 2.0 Smart Watches

These smart watches are expected to be stand-alone devices. This means that you can download apps directly on the device, without help from a smartphone or computer. The new watches are expected to be released mid-2017.

Mohu Airwave

This is a smart wireless antenna that brings local cable channels to your Roku, Fire TV, and Android, among others. The local TV channels would then be available through an app. The Mohu Airwave is $150 to purchase, and will be available this spring.

Nucleus Anywhere Intercom

The intercom is making a comeback as a smart device. It has a crisp display with an HD camera, and is even capable of working alongside Amazon’s Alexa. It is advertised as a device to use at home, or to communicate with elder relatives across the country. You can buy this device on Amazon now, starting at $219 for one intercom.

Mattel Aristotle

This is basically a smart baby monitor, smart assistant, and security camera all-in-one. The device will help you to take care of your baby or child. It can soothe them to sleep, remind you of items you need to buy for them, or help you teach your child valuable skills, among others. It retails for $299 and will be available to buy this summer.

Smart Remote by Sevenhugs

This remote is compatible with more than 25,000 devices, and claims to be able to control any device (TVs, speakers, lights, thermostats, etc.) via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or Infrared. You can preorder it now from their website, and it is currently on sale for $229.

PowerRay Aquatic Drone

PowerVision’s new drone will be available for global preorder at the end of February. This drone is marketed towards fishermen, in that it has a “fish finder” feature that can detect and photograph fish (or other aquatic life).
