Your Guide to the Exciting New Marsbot App

If you love food and restaurants, you have to have the Marsbot app by Foursquare. It rolled out slowly. At first, only users in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY had the chance to try Marsbot before it was released to the rest of the world, beginning with iOS users a few months ago.

Finally, Android users get a chance to use the Marsbot app, though the area range may still be limited. Still, users are hurrying to adopt Marsbot, and many of those even outside of those two locations are still finding success.

Foursquare might provide tips and clue you in on what’s around where you are, but Marsbot goes beyond this. Although Marsbot also provides suggestions on where to eat, it actually tracks your eating locales, providing recommendations to fit the kind of places you already frequent and enjoy. It’s not a random guess. In fact, Marsbot will tell you a place you might like — before you ever ask.

While people are quickly labeling Marsbot a chatbot, that’s not a good fit for what this app does. A Chatbot or Chatterbot, according to Oxford Dictionary, is a computer simulation that is designed to simulate conversation with human users. In other words, it’s the service that Siri provides to Apple users.

It’s also the kind of service that every big company has been working on designing. Chatbots are the next big thing — and Marsbot has gone beyond the basic chatbot design into something more.

After you install Marsbot, there’s no reason for you to open up the app. Marsbot runs in the background, tracking where you eat and drink, and then provides you with personalized picks through an SMS thread that you began with your US phone number when you first setup the app. If you are in the mood for a suggestion, simply send Marsbot a text.

You can see the types of things that Marsbot thinks you will enjoy bytaking a look at your preferences. It may show that you like pizza or fried chicken, for instance. You can easily remove a suggestion by clicking on the “x” if you don’t want those mandatory business luncheons to influence your personal picks. It’s the same place where you can opt in for vegetarian suggestions if you so desire.

Marsbot is an exciting, interesting addition to the list of “must have” Android apps. Just make sure that your cell phone is always charged so you won’t ever miss a Marsbot suggestion. Install PowerPRO to receive hints and tips to keep your cell phone battery running longer than ever.
