What’s the difference between RAM and memory?

First of all, it must be established that RAM and memory are not the same — the two are often conflated. RAM, which is an acronym for “Random Access Memory,” is the “volatile working memory” capability within your phone. Specifically, it is what processes active functions such as running apps and playing music. A RAM overload can result in a significant blow to your device’s performance speed. Well, the answer is quite subjective because it is contingent upon how much you rely on your phone.

To elucidate, if you only use your phone to contact family members and have no other use for it, then RAM is pretty much irrelevant to your phone usage. On the other hand, if you are a business person who runs your business from your phone, then you should have an adequate amount of RAM to prevent any lagging in your day-to-day to functions.

As a result, this question would best be answered by where you purchased — or plan to purchase — your phone. Tell the representative the amount of work you expect to perform on your device, and they should provide good insight as to the optimal amount of RAM to have on your phone.

In terms of your phone’s static memory, it is important to have a high amount of RAM storage if you wish to download several apps and have a gallery full of pictures and videos.
