Why short links need verification
Anyone who can use a public shortening service may choose the destination. A recognized shortener does not endorse the final page. The link can lead to a real document, a fake login, a malicious download, or another redirect.
Some services let the creator change the destination after the link is distributed. A previous result may not describe what happens later.
How to check a short link
Verify the sender and expected task first. For banking, delivery, government, or account alerts, open the official app or known website instead. A URL checker or preview function may reveal redirects, but do not submit private reset, invitation, medical, or financial links to public tools.
Inspect the final domain and requested action. A legitimate hosting service can still contain a form or file created by a scammer.

A QR code can contain a full or shortened URL. Preview the address before opening it and confirm who placed the code, especially on payment signs and public posters.
